Interview | Showcases According to Muzzle of Bees and Couch Sessions

Listen: Earlier this week, some SXSW Interactive folks transplanted a taste of Milwaukee in Austin, putting on the Milwaukee Beer and Brat Bash. Now that SXSW and the streets of Austin have been flooded by a maelstrom of bands, plaid shirts, and parties, it’s time for Milwaukee’s music scene to make its voice heard.

For the first time ever, Ryan Matteson from Muzzle of Bees has handcrafted a SXSW showcase spotlighting Milwaukee music, a Herculean labor of love. Without exception, behind every showcase is a sea of planning, firefighting, and logistics. And increasingly, the best showcases at SXSW have become the products of motivated individuals and/or bloggers who are motivated by little else other than passion.

To get inside the SXSW showcase planning experience, we interviewed Ryan along with Winston “Stone” Ford from the awesome Couch Sessions to discuss a few of the motivations and rewards of putting together a showcase at SXSW:

After I publish this post, I’m scooting right over to Habana Caile 6, the venue for the Muzzle of Bees showcase — time permitting, hopefully I’ll get a few posts up during the event.
